Anyone conducting business in Norway and sending employees for services must first obtain a Norwegian organization number (NUF) to identify themselves with the authorities. The NUF must be in place before the first posted assignment to Norway. The process is as follows:

My company already has a NUF number:

  • Provide the NUF number to the responsible Customer Success Manager.

  • Authorize WorkFlex in the Altinn portal.

My company does not yet have a NUF number:

  1. Appoint a local contact person: This person must have a Norwegian residence and a Norwegian ID or D-number. If neither exists, the D-number can be applied for during the NUF registration by submitting both the NUF application (BR-1080) and the D-number application (BR-1015).

Optional assistance: Upon request, WorkFlex can connect you with a service provider to handle the company registration if you do not have a Norwegian contact person.

  2. Submit the NUF application: If your company wants to handle this internally, the following documents must be submitted by post to:

    Address: Brønnøysundregistrene, N-8910 Brønnøysund

  3. Payment of registration fee: Registration incurs a fee. Current amounts can be found in the NUF registration fee overview. Ensure timely payment to avoid delays in the registration process.

  4. Wait for confirmation: Registration typically takes about 4–8 weeks. After completion, you will receive the registration confirmation and the Norwegian organization number. The D-number (if applied for) will be sent separately; status updates are provided by the Norwegian Tax Administration.

  5. Notify WorkFlex: Once received, provide the Norwegian NUF number to the responsible Customer Success Manager.
