Why am I asked about the purpose of my trip?

When submitting a business trip in WorkFlex, you will be asked a series of questions regarding the purpose of the trip. These questions are essential to ensure a precise visa risk assessment, determine the correct visa type, and identify if any additional information is needed for Posted Worker (PWD) purposes.

Purpose of the trip

The first question after you have entered your trip destination and dates is: What is the purpose of the trip? You will be able to select your trip purpose from a drop-down menu.

  • Initially, only the categories will be visible. When you click on a category, the relevant sub-answers will appear for you to choose from. You can expand or minimize the categories by clicking on them.

  • Below is the full list of purposes available in the drop down menu:

1. Internal business meetings

  • Internal Business (meetings) without work for a client (e.g., internal audits, quality control)

  • Internal Business meetings with work for a client

2. External business meetings

  • Meetings with/work for a client (e.g., consulting, auditing, or advisory services)

  • Meetings with potential clients

  • Negotiating contracts or signing agreements

  • Other external business (meetings), e.g., without hands-on work, representational

3. Conferences & offsites

  • Attending a conference or fair

  • Attending a company offsite

  • Speaking at a conference (unpaid)

  • Speaking at a conference (paid)

4. Training & educational

  • Attending internal training

  • Attending external training

  • Delivering training to internal participants

  • Delivering training to external participants (unpaid)

  • Delivering training to external participants (paid)

  • Participation in research projects and studies

5. Technical & manual work

  • Assembly, maintenance, repair, and installation

  • Technical Support and/or supervision

  • Other hands-on labour (e.g., test drives, seasonal labor, factory work, assembly line tasks, etc.)

6. Other

  • Doing market research and exploring investment opportunities
