Applying for Certificates of Coverage in Canada is done via post sent to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Processing time can take up to 90 days; the key challenge is that follow up on applications is only possible through post.

βœ… What you need to do

  1. Sign a Power of Attorney (POA)

  • We will provide you with a POA template. Please sign and return it to us.

2. Fill out and submit form CPT139

  • We will provide you with a template for form CPT139, please sign and return it to us, then send it to CRA via post.

3. We may request additional information directly from the employee

  • The employee should respond with the additional information once they receive our emails, otherwise we will not be able to process the application

⚠️ Key points to bear in mind

  • A POA + CPT139 is always required.

  • Processing usually takes around 90 days.

  • Too early for full assessment as WorkFlex didn’t receive many applications.

  • This article is not relevant to employees who are insured under Quebec Pension Plan

πŸ‘‰ Once these steps are complete, WorkFlex will handle the CoC application process fully on your behalf.
